Immigration
* Welcoming the Stranger: Discovering and Living God’s Heart for Immigrants, a seven-session experiential learning group guide, is now available for free download. This resource, created by World Relief and the National Association of Evangelicals, is designed to be used by church small groups, Adult Education classes, or just an informal group of friends to help Christians think about the issue of immigration from a distinctly Christian perspective. Each session includes interactive experiences, discussion questions, and prayer points. For the Pre-Survey, please Click here.
*Self Help Guide on Prosecutorial Discretion: In June 2011, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (“ICE”) announced it would not use its resources to deport people it considers “low priority” and would review existing deportation cases to determine which cases could be closed. Since its announcement, ICE has been using its “prosecutorial discretion” power to decide which cases to pursue for deportation and to stop some deportation cases. This packet provides information about how you can request that ICE stop trying to deport you because your case is a “low priority.” In this packet you will find an explanation of how prosecutorial discretion works, a detailed list of factors ICE considers, a sample request letter, and a list of documents to include with your letter. Use this to support congregation members or community members who are CURRENTLY FACING deportation.
This information from National Immigration Law Center (NILC) covers the rights of immigration when encountering law enforcement, immigration raids, and other issues.
*Deferred Action for DREAM Eligible Students
This information from United We DREAM to answer FAQs pertaining to the deferred action policy that President Obama announced in June 15, 2012 that the Department of Homeland Security will stop deporting young immigrants who meet certain conditions.
Worker’s Rights
Why Unions Matter and What Faith Has to Do With It
This Resource was created by Interfaith Worker Justice. It is very helpful in understanding the Labor Movement, its role in supporting economic justice for workers in the United States and the engagement of faith in supporting workers rights.
This Resource was created by Interfaith Worker Justice to help faith communities plan “Labor in the Pulpit/ in the Bimah / on the Minbar” in order to highlight the struggles of workers in our Country. Please check it out for inspiration for this Labor Day 2012 and work with CLUE OC to help coordinate your service / educational event. We will help bring workers to your congregation and provide local context for Orange County.
